Fairtrade for all
For a product to display the FAIRTRADE Mark it must meet international FAIRTRADE Standards.
Java Caffe is committed to the Fairtrade program and has signed the Fairtrade Foundation’s Licence Agreement which allows us to use the mark on our Fairtrade products.
The majority of coffee is grown by independent small farmers, working on their own land and marketing their produce through a local co-operative. For these producers, receiving a fair price for their beans is the single most important aspect of Fairtrade.
Most tea, however, is grown on estates. The concern for workers employed on tea plantations is fair wages and decent working conditions. Also, minimum health and safety as well as environmental standards must be complied with, and no child or forced labour can occur.
Java Caffe can supply a complete range of Fairtrade products including wholebean and ground coffees, teas, sugars, biscuits, point of sale items and much more. Simply contact us for more information.
Frequently asked questions
What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
What is the FAIRTRADE Mark?
The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on UK products as a guarantee that they have given their producers a better deal.
Why do some products claim to be fair trade but not carry the Mark?
Some companies make their own “fair trade” claims without the independent scrutiny of the Fairtrade Mark. Without the Mark, there is NO guarantee that they give producers a fair deal.
